Samsung unveiled officially an unusual smartphone, which has been rumoured for a few weeks. We're talking about Hennessy W789 with a clamshell, dual-display and Android.
It has never been given to me to use Android phone with two screens, equipped with the classic numeric keypad and navigation buttons - I cannot, therefore, assess the ergonomics of the solution. I suspect that dialing and call handling are very easy, just like in the old clamshells. I do not know, however, what benefit (other than a greater demand for energy) can give two displays. Certainly the external screen allows you to use certain features without opening the phone. But does a touch service of the internal screen have something to do with ergonomics? I do not know, and I'm afraid that I will not have the opportunity to test this, because W789 is designed for the Chinese market - and it has its launch there today.

The smartphone is based on a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and Android 4.1. It is equipped with all the elements typical for android mobiles, such as GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a microSD card reader and a set of sensors. The phone has a 5 megapixel camera and important for Chinese buyers advanced dual-SIM in GSM and CDMA. Puzzling is relatively small battery capacity - 1500 mAh. It is possible that two displays requires less power than it sounds: most of the time - I suspect – they operate alternately. Speaking of displays – there is a certain curiosity, which is a peculiarity of the phone. Both screens are identical: capacitive 3.3-inch with a resolution of 320x480 pixels. It MUST look interesting...
