A new Tecno smartphone has just made its official debut, offering 5G connectivity and a good battery at a low price.
As the name suggests, the new Tecno Pop X 5G is a close relative of the Tecno Pop X, presented a month ago, but it differs not only in its faster mobile connectivity. The previous Tecno Pop X was average in basically every respect, but the Tecno Pop X 5G, in addition to the new MediaTek Dimensity 6400 processor, is also equipped with a much better battery, with a capacity of 6,500 mAh with the possibility of faster charging at 45W. Its style has also changed significantly, now resembling the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL than the iPhone 17. Another positive change is the presence of the Android 16 operating system with the HiOS 16 interface – the 4G-limited model received the older Android 15 system. The Tecno Pop X 5G is still a modest smartphone in many respects – its display is a 6.78-inch LCD with HD+ resolution (720 x 1576 px) with a 120 Hz refresh rate, the processor is accompanied by up to 6 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.2 internal memory, and it features a 13 Mpx main camera and an 8 Mpx front-facing selfie camera. Other advantages include full dust and partial waterproofing with an IP64 rating, resistance to drops up to 1.5 meters in accordance with the MIL-STD-810H standard, a 3.5 mm minijack, and the ability to expand internal memory by up to 2 TB with a microSD card. The smartphone measures 167.9 x 79.3 x 8.18 mm and weighs 210 g.
The Tecno Pop X 5G will go on sale in India on April 24th. It will be available in light green (Ripple Green) and dark blue (Midnight Blue), as well as two memory options: the 4GB version will be priced at 16,000 rupees (approximately $172, €145), and the 6GB version will be priced at 18,000 rupees ($194, €164).
