When I first read about the launch of the first Yota Phone smartphone, I was impressed with the idea of an e-ink display as an additional interface on a mobile phone. I was delighted doubly because, firstly, I like reading books, and secondly - as all phone users - I complain about short work of today's batteries.
The only "but" seemed to be a discomfort in using the second display positioned underneath the touch panel. Moving your finger across the narrow strip instead of the display is not something ergonomic and natural.

The new proposal from YotaPhone solves this problem by providing not only a 5-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, but it is also the accompanied with the EPD e-ink interface with a diagonal of 4.7 inches, supported fully by touch. There are no longer annoying mistakes, when we set up to the second display trying unsuccessfully moving your finger to turn the page of an e-book.
The new smartphone is differs from the old with a slightly different shape – it is more rounded and has a larger battery, if nothing changes, it will be a battery with a capacity of 2250 mAh. In the device we can find LTE connectivity and a little more intuitive user interface than in the first model.

The YotaPhone New Generation smartphone - for now the new device operates under this name - is only a prototype, but quite well working. The performance of changing screens seems to need improving - so that the LCD display effectively locked automatically after rolling the smartphone on the other side, as well as to optimizing the sensitivity of the touch of the e-ink screen. However, we hope that the manufacturer is moving in the right direction...
The launch is planned for the fourth quarter of this year. I was extremely pleased with the promise of the representative: finally we will be able to carry out the first major test of the first YotaPhone model.
