Fitness
It is impossible not to mention fitness capabilities – they are, generally speaking, limited. People who are really looking for a band that will monitor everyday trainings should not even look at SmartBand Talk. There is no GPS and heart-rate meter and data that are registered by the accessory are rather inadequate. We will know how many steps we took in a given day and how many time we spent walking and running. Sony did not prepare a dedicated app in which data regarding our trainings would be gathered. However it encourages us to use the LifeLog app, which saves all our activity, gathering data from the band and from the activities when using a smartphone. External apps – I checked it on Endomondo and RunKeeper – cannot see this accessory.
Parameters and equipment
Inside the band we have a 32-bit CPU and 2MB of flash memory. This is not much, but for functions offered by the accessory this is enough. In addition we have an accelerometer and altimeter (for measuring different types of activities), speakers and a microphone necessary for making calls and voice commands. Bluetooth and NFC modules are responsible for communication, while the energy is provided by a microUSB port hidden under a rubber plug. Sony placed here a cell with a 70 mAh capacity.
Using a power-saving display should ensure a long lifespan with a single charging. Are three days given by the manufacturer a satisfying result? I must admit that I am disappointed because I expected a longer lifespan, around a week. In practice the band worked almost for two days.
Let us move to the package and accessories that we can find in it. The package made from a see-through plastic perfectly shows the accessory on a special hold – after removing it we can get to the rest of accessories among which I have only found a few papers and a rather short microUSB-USB cable. According to the sticker on the box there should be an additional, exchangeable strap in the M/L size (the original was S/M) – however I could not find it. I must add that the user can buy the band in black or white colours – but straps are exchangeable, so we can buy larger sizes or alternative colours.

Summary
Sony SmartBand Talk is a gadget which cannot entirely define itself whether it is a fitness band or a smartwatch. As a band for enthusiasts of physical activity there is no heart-rate meter, GPS and a serious app recording data from trainings. For an intelligent watch it loses with the quality of the display and a different, less intuitive usage. As an advantage there is a great control of voice calls and receiving notifications about texts or mails. Unfortunately all enthusiasm towards SmartBand Talk is crushed by the price. Right now it is around 175 euro. If the band had been cut in half and could work for a week on a single charging I would consider it as an attractive gadget.Source: GSMchoice.com
