Samsung Z1 with Tizen officially unveiled

Samsung Z1 - the first smartphone running Tizen debuted in India. The device doesn't debut coincidentally there: it is equipment designed for emerging markets, offering simple operation and friendly even for novice users.

According to the manufacturer, Samsung Z1 will be great as "the first smartphone in life." Tizen has a friendly interface, and this provides a quick start of the phone and short startup time of the applications. In addition, the Tizen platform is to be energy-efficient, which in combination with the mode "Ultra Power Saving Mode" will provide long-term performance without the need to recharge the battery. Cells with a capacity of 1500 mAh will provide up to 8 hours of talk time or 7 hours of continuous video playback.

Samsung Z1 uses a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, supported by 768 MB of RAM. The phone also has 4GB of internal memory expandable up to 64GB with a microSD card. Z1 occurs only in the Duos version, which is the two SIM cards. The phone is equipped with a 4-inch PLS screen with WVGA resolution and the 3.1-megapixel camera and a VGA front camera. Samsung Z1 has also SOS alarm function. With just a press of the power button four times, Samsung Z1 will send out ‘Help’ message to the user’s primary contacts and track the user’s location to provide necessary assistance. Z1 will be also a safe phone: a built-in anti-virus protection automatically checks for viruses when installing the application, also checks emails or SMS messages - also in terms of any sort of virus, smishing, phishing, and even pharming. The phone will also include private mode with the function of the protection of stored files.

The phone on the Indian market will have the application "Joy Box", which gives users access to music, television and movies. In addition, Samsung Z1 will offer consumers free access to premium content available on Club Samsung. Users can stream and download from over 270,000 songs, and watch over 80 live TV channels. For music lovers, Samsung has partnered with Hungama.com to deliver a wider selection of music streaming and downloading. Over two million Bollywood and English songs can be accessed for free for a period of three months. Samsung has additionally partnered with mobile Live TV service nexGTv and Box TV, bundled for three month, allowing consumers to watch their favourite TV shows and enjoy over 7000 Bollywood and Hollywood movies. All this access to content and services is worth around INR 1,750/- a year. It is not known yet what packages will be offered to customers from other countries - if Z1 series will go to a wider distribution.

Samsung Z1 will be available in India in white, black and cherry for 5700 rupees which gives approx. $ 92, or 78 euro.
