A visit to the CeBIT was a great opportunity to see the new Samsung Xcover 3. The new smartphone and the feature-phone B550 were placed modestly at the operator's booth - but they're worth a closer look.
Galaxy Xcover 3 is a solid mid-range smartphone. It does not have too impressive specification, but its main advantage is the high strength of the housing. It conforms to the requirements of IP67 and MIL-STD 810G, so you can immerse the phone in water at a depth of one meter, expose it to dust, and drop it from a height of 1.2 m. It should survive such attempts without any problems. The phone received a 4.5-inch WVGA display and two cameras: 5- and 2-megapixel. Its heart is a quad-core processor with 1.2 GHz clock, assisted by the 1.5 GB of RAM, and power supply provides a battery with a capacity of 2200 mAh. On board we have only 8 GB of memory and a microSD card slot. Galaxy Xcover 3 runs for the time being under the control of Android 4.4 KitKat, but it will soon receive an update to Lollipop.

The second novelty has similar advantages: not shocking specification, but it has a housing resistant to extreme challenges. Xcover 3 B550 is a feature-phone with a 2.4-inch display with a resolution of 240x320 pixels and a classic (and of course waterproof) keyboard with rubber. The housing also received a wide ear to hang the phone on a leash or at a belt. In the middle of the device there are SC7703A processor supported by 128 MB of RAM. In a simple phone devoid of the demanding operating system that's enough, just like the built-in memory of 256 MB, which of course you can enlarge with a microSD card. Another piece of equipment is an FM radio and a 3-megapixel camera. The phone supports HSDPA 7.2, it also has a Bluetooth. Power supply provides a battery with a capacity of 1300 mAh.
