Xiaomi Mi 9 and Mi 9 Transparent officially

After revealing almost all information about smartphones in social media, Xiaomi officially announced today the launch of Mi 9 and Mi 9 Transparent Edition during an event in China.

The flagships are equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip, they have 48-megapixel cameras, support up to 12 GB of RAM (in the Transparent Edition model), and the screens have an optical fingerprint scanner. These are some of the parameters of the latest flagship from Xiaomi. Are these models a worthy opponent for the Galaxy S10 series - which will officially debut tonight?

Xiaomi Mi 9 draws attention with the colours and gradients of the housing. It will be available in versions Lavender Violet, Ocean Blue and Piano Black, and the colours will change in gradient. In addition, a holographic effect has been used here that gives interesting effects when reflecting light.

On the front, Xiaomi Mi 9 has a 6.29-inch Samsung AMOLED display with a screen ratio of up to 90.7%. This was achieved by using a small notch in the form of a drop, reducing the size of the lower frame by 40% (compared to Mi 8), using a built-in light sensor and an ultrasonic proximity sensor. The screen has a FullHD+ resolution and achieves a 600-nit level of brightness. It also supports High Brightness Mode (HBM). The device also has a new Sunlight Mode 2.0 mode that optimizes contrast and colours when working outdoors and a new reading mode - Reading Mode 2.0, which improves the colour temperature and brightness while reading content on the screen.

Xiaomi Mi 9 has a stainless steel frame, Gorilla Glass 6 on the screen and sapphire glass protecting the camera's lenses. The fifth generation optical fingerprint scanner is supposed to be, according to Xiaomi, 25% faster than the fourth generation sensor, which was mounted in Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro or Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition. The device has a thickness of 7.61 mm (without the camera module) and weighs 173 g. Xiaomi Mi 9 works with Android 9 Pie based on MIUI 10.2. It offers a dark mode (it is to save energy), supports Game Turbo mode and has a dedicated button to launch virtual assistants, such as Google Assistant.

Xiaomi Mi 9 drives Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 with the latest Qualcomm Adreno 640 graphics processor. Snapdragon 855 consists of 1 Kryo 485 A76 processor, clocked at a frequency of up to 2.84 GHz, 3 A76-based Kryo 485 cores operating at frequencies up to 2.42 GHz and 4 Kryo 385 cores based on A55, clocked up to 1,8 GHz. Mi 9 has 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory, while the Transparent Edition version offers 12 GB of RAM and 256 internal memory.

Mi 9 uses a triple camera with a Sony IMX586 sensor with a resolution of 48 megapixels with a brightness of f/1.75, including a telephoto lens (12 MP, f/2.2, 2x optical zoom) and an ultra-wide angle lens (16 MP, 117°, f/2.2) . The camera offers scene recognition thanks to AI, has a Super Night Scene mode for recording images in low light conditions and supports slow-motion recording of 960 fps. The front camera has 20 megapixels and offers numerous modes of beautification.

Xiaomi Mi 9 is powered by a 3300 mAh battery and supports wireless charging Qi 10. The device can be charged with the included charger up to 27 W.

Me 9 is not the only launch today, Xiaomi also presented Mi 9 Transparent Edition. It offers 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory, an improved camera and a transparent casing, showing the interior of the phone (of course it will be a dummy of components).

And now the prices: Xiaomi Mi 9 costs in the cheapest version 2999 yuan (or about 446 dollars) for 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of memory, a stronger version, with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB costs 3299 yuan, or about 490 dollars, while Xiaomi Mi 9 Transparent Edition costs 3,999 yuan, or about $ 595. Probably during the MWC it will be revealed if and when these smartphones will appear on markets other than Chinese.
