Vivo today presented the new Apex. The Apex 2020 model is a conglomeration of the most modern solutions currently available - but unfortunately it will not reach wider distribution.
Vivo Apex 2020 presented today is simply a show of the company's capabilities and equipment presenting the possible directions of smartphone development in the coming months. The device is unlikely to go on sale, although a number of pieces have been produced. It cannot be ruled out that it will go on exclusive sale, but it certainly won't be cheap.

Do we have anything to regret? I think so ... Vivo Apex 2020 has a 6.45-inch FullView Edgeless Display, extending deeply to the sides of the device. The bending force is stated to be 120 degrees. A selfie camera has been mounted under the screen. The camera cannot be seen, but Vivo boasts that part of the display above the camera has 6 times higher light transmission than the rest of the matrix. The screen has a resolution of 2330x1080 px, and the selfie camera - 16 Mpx. The camera works in the pixel merging mode to capture more light, resulting in photos at a resolution of 4 Mpx. The display is also a loudspeaker - this technology was called Screen SoundCasting. On the sides of the screens there are virtual buttons that replace mechanical ones, while in the lower part of the screen there is hidden a fingerprint reader.

The camera of the new Apex is equally impressive. This is the first smartphone with "Continuous Optical Zoom" - that is, a smooth zoom between 5x and 7.5x, implemented by a combination of two movable and two fixed lenses. The lens mechanism is of course periscope, and the entire module is 6.2 mm thick, so it will fit easily in a slender smartphone. The zoom module has 16 megapixels, but the set also has a 48 Mpx camera, which in turn received a new image stabilization system, compared by Vivo to the gimbal. The range of movements of the stabilizing mechanism is 200% wider than that typically used in OIS. Also here, a system of connecting four neighboring pixels to the final 12 mega was used. The camera has some interesting features that use AI. It is possible to automatically remove unwanted elements from the background of the photo, as well as to track the sound through the microphone assembly when recording movies.

The heart of the phone is of course the flagship Snapdragon 865 with a 5G X55 modem, supported by 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory. The battery capacity of only 2000 mAh is very surprising. Why so little? There are several reasons. First of all, cameras take up a lot of space and a larger battery may not have fit in the housing. Secondly, the smartphone has a fast, wireless (!) Charging system Wireless Super FlashCharge 60 W, which will fill the said battery in 20 minutes. Thirdly - it is a concept phone, intended for showing, not for normal use. Working time is not very important here...
So it looks like the future awaits us with screens almost covering the backs of smartphones that will not have buttons or sockets. Everything that is possible will be hidden under the display, and the cameras - what a surprise - will offer better and better possibilities. Let only the future be not too expensive ... And equipped with larger batteries!
