New smartphones from the popular mid-range OnePlus sub-brand have just been released. Can they surpass last year's metal OnePlus Nord 4?

OnePlus Nord 5 has a more conventional design, but it doesn't lack for features. Announcements and leaks have particularly drawn attention to its impressive 6800 mAh battery and the even better 7100 mAh battery in the OnePlus Nord CE5... unfortunately, not everyone will benefit – the OnePlus Nord 5 and Nord CE 5 only offer 5200 mAh in Europe. The 80W fast charging capability won't disappoint.

The OnePlus Nord 5 also boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, 50MP rear and front cameras, and a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and 1800 nits peak brightness, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. Among its artificial intelligence features, AI Plus Mind is particularly noteworthy, recognizing content on the screen and saving it to Mind Space. It can also instantly save it to your calendar or search your saved content using AI Search. The notification slider has been replaced with a multi-function Plus Key, combining the existing ringer, vibration, and silence toggle with additional shortcuts to features like the flashlight, camera, and screenshot.

The OnePlus Nord CE 5, while more modest in size, also promises high performance, thanks to a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Apex processor and a 7041 mm² vapor chamber. Its 6.77-inch Super Fluid OLED screen offers a 120 Hz refresh rate, and its battery also features bypass charging, so it won't drain while playing games while connected to a charger. Its water resistance is confirmed by an IP65 certificate, and the internal memory can be expanded up to 1 TB with a microSD card.
