The recently announced Honor X9d has just gone on sale, along with the debut of the more modest Honor X7d 5G, promising durability, fast connectivity, and an attractive battery at a low price.
The Honor X7d 5G's specifications are relatively modest, though its plus points include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 processor offering 5G connectivity, IP65 waterproofing, 5-star SGS drop resistance, and a 6500 mAh battery supporting 35W charging and 7.5W reverse wired charging. The additional "AI button" may also be useful, as despite its name, it can also serve as a shortcut to many other frequently used functions, such as the flashlight, notes, screenshot, muting notifications, or a selected app.
Honor X7d 5G has a 6.77-inch TFT LCD display with HD+ resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 850 nits. It features a 50 MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a 5 MP selfie camera. Its operating system is Android 15 with Magic OS 9, and it's available in a single variant – 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The phone is available in Malaysia in Velvet Black and Desert Gold, and is priced at 699 ringgit – approximately $166, €141.

Honor X9d, although similarly named, already qualifies as a mid-range smartphone – its powerful 8300 mAh battery with 66W charging, its IP69K rating promises much more thorough water resistance, and its 6.79-inch AMOLED screen has FHD+ resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 6000 nits. Its Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor, two memory options (12 GB RAM, 256 or 512 GB of storage), and cameras—a 108 MP main camera, a 5 MP wide-angle camera, and a 16 MP front-facing camera—are also slightly better.
Honor X9d is available in four colours — Reddish Brown, Midnight Black, Sunrise Gold, and Forest Green. The cheaper 12/256 GB version costs 1,499 ringgit ($356, €302), while the 12/512 GB version costs 1,699 ringgit ($403, €343).
