The former head of Pepsi and Apple - John Sculley - decided to try his hand on the market of phones with Android. He founded the Obi Worldphone company, which will offer nicely stylized and well-equipped phones on the so-called emerging markets.
For now, the company has focused its activities in Vietnam, India, Turkey, Pakistan, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Obi Worldphone will offer there at the beginning two DualSIM smartphones that will be sold for the equivalent of 130 and 250 dollars. We do not know anything about the distribution of Obi mobiles in Europe or the US.
A more expensive model, now also acting the role of the flagship, is Obi Worldphone SF1. This phone has a 5-inch FullHD IPS display equipped with Gorilla Glass 4. The heart of the phone is the 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor controlled by Android 5.0.2 equipped with the company's graphical interface Obi Lifespeed. This model is available in two versions. The cheaper one, for $ 200, has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of flash memory, whereas the top one, which is for $ 250, has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of flash memory. In both cases, there is also a microSD card slot. The phone supports LTE, it has also modules Wi-Fi a/b/g/n (2-band), Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. Power supply provides a battery with a capacity of 3000 mAh, while photographs can be taken using the 13-megapixel camera and best-in-class Sony IMX214 Exmor sensor and the lens f/2.0 or the 5 megapixel front camera.

Obi Worldphone SJ1.5 is a cheaper and simpler model, but with a slightly bolder styling. In his case, you can count on a 5-inch HD IPS screen with Gorilla Glass 3, and the 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6580 processor, supported by a gigabyte of RAM. Internal memory has only 8 GB, but there is also a microSD card slot. The photographic opportunities are definitely more modest - in this model, we have the 8-megapixel camera OmniVision OV8865 and the 5-megapixel front webcam. Unfortunately, there is no LTE, but taking into account the specific characteristics of the countries in which the equipment will be offered, it should not be a worrisome feature. Despite the impoverishment of the specification, forced by a lower price, the phone has managed to keep a decent battery capacity – it has as in the flagship - 3000 mAh.
