As announced, Sony officially unveiled the photographic Xperia PRO-I model. This is the first smartphone with an inch photo matrix to be available outside of Japan.

The nature of the smartphone is even reflected in its name. The letter "I" at the end comes from the word Imaging. Accordingly, the main advantage of the device is the camera, with a matrix with a resolution of 12 megapixels and the size of an inch, borrowed directly from the Sony RX100 VII camera. A single pixel has a size of 2.4 micrometers - without connecting to the adjacent ones. For comparison, the size is 20% larger than that of the iPhone, and in the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, the pixels are 2.8 micrometers after the connection. In addition, the matrix works with a lens with a focal length of 24 mm and a variable aperture, f/2.0 - f/4.0, which allows you to conveniently change the depth of field without resorting to additional lenses and digital processing.

Nevertheless, a ToF sensor supporting autofocus PDAF was installed next to the main camera, as well as two more cameras. Both are also 12-megapixel, but with smaller sensors. The first works with a 16 mm f/2.2 wide-angle lens, and the second one with a 50 mm f/2.4 telephoto lens with a 2x optical zoom. The camera has an eye tracking function implemented in the camera, the Sony VENICE cinematic filming modes have also been added, as well as two mechanical shutter buttons - photo and film. The phone can film in 4K resolution at a rate of 120 fps. In addition, you can get an attached 3.5-inch monitor that allows you to view vlogs or selfies with the main camera, there is also an additional, dedicated handle.

Although the rest of the Xperia PRO-I specification seems to be insignificant against the background of the camera, it is worth mentioning that the smartphone is equipped with a Snapdragon 888 processor, 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of flash memory, which can be additionally enlarged with a microSD card. The device has a 4500 mAh battery, 30-watt charging, and the interface displays on a 6.5-inch OLED 4K screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The price of Sony Xperia PRO-I is 1799 euros, plus 199 euros for the monitor and 90 euros for the handle. Unfortunately, the phone will only be offered in Germany, Great Britain, France, the Netherlands and the Nordic countries in December.
