Vivo S12 and Vivo S12 Pro - gold under the Christmas tree

Vivo S12 5G and Vivo S12 Pro are very successful gifts at the end of 2021 from a Chinese company. 108 Mpx cameras, powerful MediaTek processors and efficient memories are just the beginning of surprises.

Vivo S12 5G and Vivo S12 Pro seem to be very similar designs, and they are, in a way, but a few differences may turn out to be key when choosing a specific version of the smartphone. First of all, it is worth paying attention to the shape of the housing. Vivo S12 5G with its straight edges may resemble Apple structures, while in Vivo S12 Pro the AMOLED display overlaps the edges, making them optically thinner.

In the visual layer, this is the only difference, although when you look closely, you will also notice that Vivo S12 Pro is slightly larger, because it has dimensions of 159.5 x 73.3 x 7.4 mm compared to 157.2 x 72.4 x 7.55 mm (or 7.39 mm depending on the version). Interestingly, it is also lighter, weighing 171 grams compared to the 179/181 grams of Vivo S12 5G.

The memory sets of both smartphones are identical on the day of the launch. We will buy them in configurations of 8+128 GB, 8+256 GB or 12+256 GB. Vivo S12 5G received a MediaTek Dimensity 1100 processor with a clock up to 2.6 GHz, while Vivo S12 Pro - MediaTek Dimensity 1200 with a clock up to 3 GHz. The modems of both processors supporting 5G networks can boast similar performance when it comes to data transfer.

The rear camera set in both smartphones consists of three units. Samsung's 108 Mpx matrix plays the first fiddle, and it is accompanied by a wide-angle camera with an 8 Mpx matrix and a 2-megapixel mesh for blurring the background. At the front, however, it is different. In Vivo S12 5G we will take a selfie using a 44+8 Mpx set, while in Vivo S12 Pro - 50+8 Mpx. The main front cameras are autofocus.

The difference in battery capacity is small: 4200 or 4300 mAh in the more powerful version. Both will be recharged instantly thanks to the fast charging of 44 W. Both smartphones support NFC, have LPDDR4X memory, UFS 3.1 and look amazing, although the huge notch can be a bit discouraging.

Vivo S12 5G and Vivo S12 Pro they come in gold, blue and black. Both are currently available only in China.
