Motorola made a small surprise to the world and presented its flagship this year in India - a market that is as huge as it is a bit exotic for us. We'll have to wait a while for the global launch of the Motorola Edge 50 Pro model - but we can already see what the new model has to offer.
In fact, Motorola Edge 50 Pro is not a full-blown flagship, although it is at the top of the brand's offer. Motorola is famous for mid-range models - and we should place this model at the top of this segment. Motorola Edge 50 Pro is the world's first smartphone with a camera distinguished by the Pantone Validated mark. We already know the name, because Pantone - color specialists - has been behind Motorola's colours for a long time. Now - the company took up photography. We'll see what comes of it - because for now we just know that the Edge 50 Pro has a 50-megapixel main camera with an f/1.4 aperture, optical stabilization and pixels measuring up to 2 micrometers in size. Another 50-megapixel camera is mounted on the front - and it will provide selfies with an f/1.9 aperture, using autofocus. AF also has a 13-megapixel wide-angle camera with a macro function. The set of rear cameras is complemented by a 10-megapixel camera with a 3x telephoto lens.

The display is also Pantone Validated. It is a 6.7-inch pOLED matrix with a resolution of 1.5K, an image refresh rate of 144 Hz and a brightness of up to 2000 nits. The screen has curved sides, Gorilla Glass 5 and a hole for the selfie camera, and a fingerprint reader is hidden under the display surface. The heart of the smartphone is the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, supported by 8 or 12 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 2.2 memory for data. There is, of course, also virtual RAM. The power supply is provided by a battery with a capacity of only 4,500 mAh, but it charges quickly with a power of 125 W - or inductively with a power of 50 W. We also have reverse charging of 10 W. The system is, of course, Android 14 with a new Hello UX interface and the promise of three version updates and 4 years of security support. The equipment is complemented by stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, and the housing is based on a metal frame and ensures IP68 tightness. There are three housing colours to choose from, and in India the offer currently includes memory sets: 8+256 and 12+256 GB. Their prices are 32,000 and 36,000 rupees, i.e. USD 383-432, EUR 357-400. After "realization", I am betting on European prices of 449-499 euros. Interestingly, the "weaker" memory model is offered in India with a 68W charger - and 125 W is only available in the more expensive variant.
