A slightly changed successor to the inexpensive HTC A101 tablet has just gone on sale in Russia. What can it boast about?
First of all, the current operating system. The original HTC A101 started with Android 11, which in 2022 was a slightly outdated system. Now HTC A101 Plus Edition no longer has to be ashamed in this respect, because it has Android 14 at its disposal. The cameras also look slightly different in the new model - 13 Mpx at the back, 8 Mpx at the front. The predecessor had 16 Mpx on the back and 5 Mpx on the front... the new system makes more sense, assuming that the cameras in the tablet will be more useful for video calls than for taking photos. The choice of processor is more difficult to understand - instead of the earlier Unisoc Tiger T618 processor, we have Unisoc 606, a newer but less efficient processor. One could even say that in terms of performance it's more like the HTC A101 Minus Edition. As a consolation, we have a quite decent set of 8 GB RAM and 128 GB of internal memory - the same as before.
Besides, the specification of the HTC A101 Plus Edition already looks familiar. The screen is played by a 10.95-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1920x1200 px, and the 7000 mAh battery can be charged with a power of 10 W. The tablet measures 256.6 x 168.2 x 7.5 mm and weighs 501 g. Its price in Russia it's 15,990 rubles, or about $175, €160.
