Announced as a superhero, Redmi 15A 5G smartphone has debuted in India. Is it really such a superhero?
Redmi 15A 5G is – despite the hype – a rather budget-friendly device with rather uninspiring specifications, but with a few more interesting features. The smartphone features a 6.9-inch LCD display with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and a brightness of 800 nits, which doesn't hide the fact that the resolution is poor for this HD+ diagonal. Furthermore, the screen has a rather wide bezel and an unattractive teardrop notch. The smartphone's interior isn't exactly impressive either. It's powered by a Unisoc T8300 processor, supported by LPDDR4X and UFS 2.2 memory, with the least expensive variant offering only 4GB and 64GB of storage – far from sufficient. Fortunately, there's a microSD card slot.

The 8-megapixel selfie camera, adequate for this class, looks a bit better, but the rear camera isn't particularly impressive at 32 megapixels. Both have f/2.0 apertures and 1.12-micron pixels. The 6300 mAh battery is the best-performing feature, although it only charges at 15W. As a consolation, it also offers reverse charging at 7.5W. The smartphone also has a minijack, stereo speakers, and IP52 waterproofing. The operating system runs Android 16 with the HyperOS 3.0 interface and the promise of four system updates and six years of security patch support. Redmi 15A 5G measures 171.56 x 79.47 x 8.15 mm and weighs 210 g. Pricing in India is as follows:
- 4+64 GB - 12,999 rupees, $140
- 4+128 GB - 14,499 rupees, $155
- 6+128 GB - 16,499 rupees, $175
