Qualcomm has announced the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processors—the most powerful smartphone chips created to date.

Qualcomm’s new processors are manufactured using 2nm lithography, similar to competing chips such as the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro, Samsung Exynos 2600, and Apple A20 Pro. However, they appear poised to be unrivaled in terms of performance. They feature eight cores, with the two most powerful "Oryon" cores reaching a record-breaking clock speed of 5 GHz. The remaining six cores operate at 4 GHz. Additionally, the processors utilize "FlexCache" technology, which dynamically allocates memory to individual cores, ensuring smoother core switching during complex tasks. As a result, they deliver up to 13% higher performance than previous-generation chips while improving energy efficiency by 37%.

The chips support displays with resolutions up to QHD+ and refresh rates up to 240 Hz, as well as cameras with resolutions up to 320 megapixels. They are compatible with LPDDR6 and LPDDR5X RAM clocked at up to 5300 MHz and UFS 5.0 flash storage.

The processors feature integrated Bluetooth 6.0 and tri-band Wi-Fi 8 connectivity (with transfer speeds up to 11.6 Gbps), as well as Qualcomm X105 5G modems capable of speeds up to 14.8 Gbps.

The processors differ in their integrated components. Both feature Adreno graphics units and modified Hexagon NPUs, though their capabilities vary slightly. The lower-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 offers a 20% boost in AI performance, 35% in graphics, and 40% in energy efficiency, whereas the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 sees improvements of 35%, 44%, and 40%, respectively. In other words, the Extreme variant excels in graphics and AI processing while maintaining energy efficiency comparable to the standard model. Additionally, the more powerful processor includes Adreno Neural Fusion technology, which leverages AI to enhance gaming performance.

Qualcomm's new processors will power the previously announced Motorola Signature 27, the OnePlus 16, upcoming Xiaomi flagships, and a new RedMagic model. They will also appear in new devices from BBK Group brands—such as Vivo, Oppo, and iQOO—as well as in Honor and Redmi smartphones.
