A new model has just joined the Huawei MatePad Air 2026—unveiled earlier this July—offering slightly more modest specs, though certainly not in terms of appearance. What does the Huawei MatePad Air Z offer, and at what price?
For those who like most of the Huawei MatePad Air 2026's specifications but aren't sold on its muted pastel colors or the price tag exceeding €800, the new Huawei MatePad Air Z could be a compelling alternative. In addition to the standard black and white options, it comes in vibrant pink, dark blue, and peach-orange; pricing in China currently starts at 3,500 yuan—approximately $520, €460.
Like the Huawei MatePad Air 2026, the Huawei MatePad Air Z features a 12-inch display with a resolution of 1840 x 2800 px and a smooth 144 Hz refresh rate, although in this case, it is an IPS TFT screen.
No compromises were made regarding the battery; it fits into a casing that is only slightly thicker—accommodating a 5.90-inch display—while retaining a 10,100 mAh capacity and supporting 66W charging. The manufacturer claims the MatePad Air Z battery lasts for 16 hours of use. The device is powered by the Kirin T93 processor and runs on HarmonyOS 7, featuring a 50 MP main camera and an 8 MP front-facing camera for photos and video calls. It is possible that the Huawei MatePad Air Z will see a global release, much like the Huawei MatePad Air 2026; however, for now, it is available only in China, with variants differing in memory configurations and the inclusion of a matte "Soft Light" display. There is also a more affordable model, the Huawei MatePad Air Z Enjoy Edition, which features a more modest Kirin T93SD processor instead of the Kirin T93S. Their prices are as follows:
- 8+128 GB, Enjoy Edition - 2,799 yuan ($417, €366)
