The Huawei Mate 90 series smartphones were unveiled in China today. Three models debuted, along with a fascinating addition: a camera featuring a one-inch sensor!
Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max
The Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max is the most impressive of the new smartphones. It features a 6.9-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2848x1320 pixels and a 120 Hz refresh rate, boasting an impressive peak brightness of 12,000 nits. The device is powered by either the Kirin 9050 Pro or Kirin 9050 processor (in the 12 GB RAM version). It runs on a 6,800 mAh battery supporting 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, and the casing is IP69-rated. As befits a Huawei flagship, the cameras take center stage. The main camera features a 50-megapixel RYYB sensor (1/1.28-inch size), optical image stabilization (OIS), and a continuously adjustable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0. OIS is also found in the periscope lens camera, which offers 4x zoom and a 200-megapixel RYYB sensor (1/1.28-inch size). The specifications also include a 40-megapixel wide-angle camera and a color spectrum sensor. Selfies and facial recognition are handled by a 13-megapixel front-facing camera paired with an additional depth sensor. The smartphone is available in several colors and can also be purchased as the Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max Collector's Edition, which features an additional Ruiying Z10 camera equipped with a 1-inch RYYB sensor, offering a smooth 10x zoom (equivalent to a 24–240 mm focal length range). Pricing is as follows:
- 12+512 GB – 9,499 yuan, 1,420 USD
- 16+512 GB – 9,999 yuan, 1,495 USD
- 16+512 GB Collector's Edition – 10,999 yuan, 1,640 USD

Huawei Mate 90 RS
The Huawei Mate 90 RS Ultimate Design is essentially a more exclusive version of the Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max, available in three color variants. Aside from the casing's appearance, the specifications remain the same as those described above, though this model is available with even more storage: 2 TB. It also supports the additional Huawei Ruiying Z10 camera—though interestingly, in this case, the camera must be purchased separately for 5,999 yuan (approx. 895 USD or 3,475 PLN). The phone itself is offered in the following versions:
- 16+512 GB – 12,999 yuan, 1,940 USD
- 16 GB + 1 TB – 14,999 yuan, 2,240 USD
- 16 GB + 2 TB – 18,999 yuan, 2,835 USD

Huawei Mate 90 Pro
The Huawei Mate 90 Pro—a smaller and more affordable model—features the new Kirin 9035 processor and a 6.75-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2832x1280 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz; it retains LTPO technology and a peak brightness of 12,000 nits. The main, selfie, and wide-angle cameras are similar to those on the Pro Max, but the telephoto camera—while still offering 4x zoom—features a "mere" 50-megapixel sensor. Power is supplied by a 6600 mAh battery, featuring charging speeds comparable to those of the more expensive models. The pricing for this model is as follows:
- 12+256 GB – 6,999 yuan, 1,045 USD
- 12+512 GB – 7,999 yuan, 1,195 USD
