Rumours of a Nokia smartphone with Android return like a boomerang. This time, The Verge is trying to tweak the atmosphere citing its own brand sources. This raises the question whether Microsoft will allow for Normandy?
The photos of a weird smartphone with a touchscreen and no clear touch buttons appeared on the @evleaks in November. Adam already wrote about Normandy and published a photo shown by the well-known service with leaks. The same image that you can see above.
Is the Nokia smartphone with Android there any new information ? The Verge citing a source close to the manufacturer speculates on the non-canonical version of the operating system that would - like system for Amazon Kindle - differ from Android as we know it from most devices.
Nokia Normandy would have Skype adapted to Android, and other popular applications. The device would be the next step in the evolution of Nokia's low-cost structures - maybe it will replace the Asha line.
The Verge claims that workers who have their share in the Normandy project were informed about the release of the device in 2014.
It's hard to imagine a policy of Microsoft, which after the acquisition of Nokia would see some interest in promoting an external operating system. It is difficult to assess how a move involving a limited use of Android would affect the brand image and finances. But if you asked me whether I would like to see Nokia with Android I would answer - yes! Although instead of the low-cost smartphone I would prefer a system designed to work with Lumia models from the top shelf.
