The operating system Sailfish come a long way: from the unwanted child of Nokia to a Jolla smartphone, which - although went on sale - probably won't conquer the market. In the popularization of the system can be helpful a move, announced recently by one of the Sailfish OS creators: ability to implement it on popular phones.
These "popular mobiles" - are already a bit worn-out, older models of Samsung, acting primarily on Android. One of the Jolla engineers, wrote on Twitter that "holders of the older Samsung models will soon get the opportunity to plant in their smartphones an alternative system". He did not say outright that it is Sailfish, but the source of this information clearly confirms this fact. Unfortunately, we do not know exactly when we get this package of software and how it will be shared. This step can certainly help popularize the system and also breathes new life into the older phones, which - without such support – would have ended up in the trash soon.
