Sony today announced three new smartphones: Xperia 1 III, Xperia 10 III and the long-awaited compact Sony Xperia 5 III.
According to Sony's representative, these will be the only three smartphone models that the Japanese company intends to launch this year. The company reorganized the model range and focused on the higher segments of the markets. So we have two flagships (large and small) and a strong medium phone. And that's it, there won't be L series anymore. Unfortunately, we will not know the exact schedule of the commercial launches of the devices described today, just as we will not know their prices yet. It is only known that the first of the models (probably the flagship Xperia 1) can be expected in June, as long as the crisis in the semiconductor market does not thwart the manufacturer's plans.
Sony Xperia 1 III
Sony Xperia 1 III is a flagship model with an impressive 6.5" display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and 4K resolution. This screen is of course made in OLED technology, has HDR support, but there is no unsightly notch or hole. Sony has retained the traditional, simple bezels - but they don't waste the space they create by adding solid stereo speakers and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. They are 40% louder than the previous ones, have Dolby Atmos and DSEE Ultimate support, and they are also compatible with the surround sound offered by among others Tidal. Sony has not forgotten about the minijack output as well. The interior of the phone is flagship: Snapdragon 888 accompanied by 12 GB RAM and 256/512 GB flash. The back camera, as for Xperia, is quite extensive and carries the Zeiss logo. We get three 12-megapixel matrices with different lenses. We have an f/1.7 wide-angle camera with OIS and an f/2.2 wide-angle camera.

The most interesting, however, is the module with a periscope telephoto lens that allows you to change the focal length - i.e. zoom: 70-105 mm. The aperture of this lens (of course with OIS) is f/2.3-2.8, respectively. The camera is complemented by a 3D/ToF sensor. The smartphone powers a 4500 mAh battery with 30 W fast charging and a 3-year warranty. Xperia 1 III, of course, offers the ability to connect to the Playstation console or Alpha cameras, it also has a special menu for players with an extensive option to record the game on the screen. The phone will be closed in a housing with IP65/68 tightness certificates, available in three colours.

Sony Xperia 5 III
Sony Xperia 5 III is a long-awaited, compact flagship. The phone measures 157x68x8.2 mm and Sony argues that they are the perfect compromise between the size of the phone and the usability of the screen. And this one has a diagonal of 6.1 inches, OLED technology and HDR compatibility, as well as a fast 120 Hz image refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution. The compact model has - like the flagship - Snapdragon 888, but combined with 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB internal memory. It is worth adding that in any of the models presented today, Sony has not given up the minijack and the microSD card slot. The Xperia 5 III cameras are almost identical to the flagship "One" - only the ToF sensor has disappeared from the rear module. Interestingly, the compact battery has the same capacity as the flagship - 4500 mAh - and the same charging rate (half in 30 minutes) - and the software that takes care of the life of the cells. The compact also features stereo speakers, water resistance and an additional camera button - exactly as in the model that is placed at the top of the range. There will be three colours to choose from.

Sony Xperia 10 III
Sony Xperia 10 III will be the company's cheapest models this year. The cheapest - does not mean cheap and poorly equipped. On the contrary, Sony offers us a strong medium, with a waterproof housing covered with GG6 glass on both sides. Only the frame will be plastic. In this model we find a 6-inch OLED Full HD+ display and a Snapdragon 690 processor, supported by 6+128 GB memory. There will be a minijack, Hi-res Audio or 5G sound system. This model has a triple camera with a main matrix of 12 Mpx f/1.8. It is supported by two 8 Mpx matrices, with a wide-angle f/2.2 lens and an f/2.4 telephoto lens. The front camera is the same as in the flagships (8 Mpx, as well as the battery capacity - 4500 mAh. Here the manufacturer will offer four colour versions.
