A new low-cost POCO model debuted in India today. POCO C50 - as you can easily guess - it will replace the model POCO C40, although in terms of specifications it is unlikely to surpass it.
The new POCO C50 is available via the Flipkart, where it costs 6.7 or 7.2 thousand. rupees, respectively for versions with 2 or 3 GB of RAM. After that, prices will increase to 9 and 10 thousand. rupees, or 109-120 dollars. Prices and memory quite clearly indicate the nature of the phone.
POCO C50 is first and foremost cheap - but does it offer anything but a low price? The smartphone has a 6.52-inch IPS screen with HD resolution, 400 nits brightness and 120 Hz touch sampling. The heart of the phone is the MediaTek Helio A22 processor clocked at up to 2 GHz, supported by the aforementioned 2 or 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. The role of the operating system is of course Android 12 GO, and the memory for files can be increased with a microSD card by 512 GB. The equipment is complemented by two cameras: 5-megapixel at the front and 8-megapixel at the back (f/2.0). Next to the rear camera you can see another, additional eyelet, but it is not mentioned in the specification, so it is simply a background blurr with a resolution of VGA or lower. Of course, the smartphone does not have 5G, there is also no NFC, but it has a fingerprint reader, minijack and FM radio. The whole thing is powered by a 5000 mAh battery with a 10-watt charger. The plastic housing with dimensions of 164.9x76.45x9.09 mm is available in two colours, and the entire smartphone weighs 192 g.

So as you can see, the new POCO C50 is not necessarily significantly better than the previous POCO C40. It may have gained a more "branded" processor, but it has a smaller battery, weaker cameras and less memory (the predecessor was also available in the 4+64 GB version). Moreover, the specification of the C50 does not mention any degree of protection, while the C40 had IP52 - not bad for a budget.
