The Tecno brand announced a new series of photographic smartphones at MWC 2024, and now three new models have had their launch.
The best-equipped of the expected four models, Tecno Camon 30 Premier 5G, will appear later this month, but the remaining three - Camon 30, Camon 30 5G and Camon 30 Pro - are already available in stores in Africa. Their prices will depend on the region and will be revealed at the time of release in individual markets, but for now we can learn the details of their specifications.
The Tecno Camon 30 series does not have an excess of cameras, but their quality is beyond objection - the main role in the Camon 30 Pro is played by a 50 Mpx Sony IMX890 matrix with a diameter of 1/1.56" with OIS, and the Camon 30 and Camon 30 5G have only slightly smaller 50 Mpx main camera with a size of 1/1.57 inch, also with optical stabilization. Camon 30 Pro has an additional 50 Mpx wide-angle camera with a 114° field of view, also serving as a macro camera offering 10x magnification, and all three smartphones are equipped with a 50 Mpx selfie camera. Camon 30 Pro will be especially useful for people recording vlogs, as it allows you to record 4K videos at 60 FPS with the front camera. The shooting capabilities of the Tecno Camon 30 series are also supported by new AI functions, including recognition and Universal Tone function that accurately reproduces different skin tones, as well as the option to erase unwanted objects from the frame.
The Tecno Camon 30 series also shows good promise in terms of multimedia experience and performance. The display is a 6.78-inch AMOLED with Full HD+ resolution and 144 Hz refresh rate, there are stereo speakers, and the sound quality is improved by Dolby Atmos for the first time in the Camon series. The batteries of the new smartphones have a capacity of 5000 mAh and can be charged with a power of 70 W, and they are also IP54 waterproof and dustproof just in case.
The processor makes a big difference between the three models. The entry-level Tecno Camon 30 uses the Mediatek Helio G99, the Tecno Camon 30 5G has the Dimensity 7020, and the Tecno Camon 30 Pro is equipped with the Dimensity 8200. The Dimensity models also have a 9-layer cooling system, and all models additionally offer 512 GB of internal memory and 12 GB of RAM.
